Thanks for visiting my website. My goal is for every guest to learn about my work: its purpose, history, quality, and of course, the unique features that will make you want to own one of my pieces. If you haven't visited here lately, there are a couple of changes I'd like you to know about. Most importantly- I've started a woodworking blog. It's not easy keeping this site updated with current pictures and comments. In fact, that's a full time job! So hopefully this blog will create a forum for us to discuss woodworking, and for me to post current photos, without having to tweak this site too much.
I began working with wood as a child in my father's workshop, as many woodworkers do. My timing was perfect; I started high school in the era when women were finally allowed in the woodshop.

My studies led me to Ohio University, where I earned a Bachelors Degree in Furniture Design. As a general studies student at Ohio U, I had the freedom to customize my education with classes that truly interested me and would provide the foundation for my career. My studies included sculpture and upholstery, glass blowing and bronze casting, jewelry making and ceramics, along with a variety of technical and historical classes.
I founded Wood It Is! Custom Cabinetry in 1982 in a small studio with few tools. I dedicated myself to technical expertise and assembled my arsenal of tools slowly. My work is my best advertisement, and I've enjoyed a loyal following of customers. After years of building only solid wooden furniture, I felt the need for variety and began adding ceramic details to my pieces. I now find myself designing and building much of my furniture around my ceramic tiles.
In 2004, for a variety of personal and professional reasons, I relocated to the desert southwest, specifically, Las Vegas, Nevada. It takes a lot of courage, as well as energy, to move 25,000 pounds of tools and set up a new studio. I left an established client base, and wonderful students with whom I had collaborated for many years. It hasn't been easy, but it's been worth it, surrounding myself with the desert beauty and the inspirations of the west. Please take a look around my site and explore my work and philosophy of wood. I hope you'll find it an enjoyable experience. Feel free to write me with any comments, suggestions or requests.
